Hilary Passant's garden, Rose Cottage - This Wednesday 20th April

Picture
A reminder that this month, instead of an indoor meeting, we are going to re-visit Hilary Passant’s garden, Rose Cottage at Four Crosses SY226RB on April 20th.  Meet in the square at 6pm or at the garden at 6.30pm.  This is a week earlier than our usual date as Easter is late.

In the same spirit as last year we are following our visit with a meal at Bengal Spices in Llanymynech.  If you haven’t already put your name down for the meal then please let Sue Bossom know ASAP.

Now, for some days/evenings out in addition to club outings

Oswestry Farm Women’s Club have ‘Greatest Gardening Tips in the World’ by Steve Brookes, a BBC producer (I think he works for BBC WM and has a garden in Stratford). It will be at The Pedigree in Oswestry, Monday, 18th April at 7 for 7.30 £5 per ticket available from Merle Sadler 01691 623011.  Apparently he’s a bit expensive so they’re hoping other clubs will join them.  It’s a good venue and I will be going.

Sunday May 1st has Barbara Molesworth opening her garden for ‘Save the Children’ at Byeways, Daisy Lane, Whittington SY11 4EA, 10.30 -5pm.  £1.50pm She is a real plants woman  and plants will be for sale. Car parking at the Castle, small charge.  On the same day Birch House in Daisy Lane will also be open.

Trefonen Garden Club have a coach outing to Arley Arboretum and the Dower House, Morville Hall nr Bridgnorth on June 18th.  Total Cost is £20 which includes a cream tea at the second garden.  Mike Wynn Jones is the contact, 01691 655 829  They would welcome us to make up the numbers.

National Trust, Attingham Park are restoring their walled garden and on May 7th and 8th are having a sale of locally grown vegetable plants.  Times are 10 till 5pm, (I think!)

REMINDER - The Garden Club Plant Sale

Please all remember our grand annual plant sale on Saturday May 21st at Llanrhaeadr Village Hall.  We will be providing refreshments, tea and cakes.  We have a new category this year too in the form of sundries such as bird boxes, so if you have anything like that to sell please bring them along.  Hope you are all potting up like mad!

I have 10 small cowslip plants in flower now.  They will be over by the Plant Sale. £1 each, contact me if you wish to purchase any. Proceeds to Garden Club
