Welcome to Llanrhaeadr Gardening Club
The Llanrhaeadr Garden Club was formed in 1999. We are a group of enthusiastic gardeners who meet on a regular basis for talks, visits and outings. We are one of the most active garden clubs in the area and welcome all new members. You don't even need a garden to enjoy what we have to offer.
At only £10 a year, membership, is extremely good value with no additional cost for attending the meetings which are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month. We meet in the Llanrhaeadr Village Hall, Back Street (off Waterfall Road), Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant at 7.30pm, for an interesting talk related to gardening. The talks range from garden design, sowing seeds, organic gardening, specialist plants and gardens. Sometimes our talks go beyond the normal garden related subjects and take in the wider world such as that of veteran trees and meadows in the landscape.
During the summer months (generally between May to September) we visit local inspirational gardens and members gardens. There may be small charitable donation to pay. In 2011 we visited Highgrove, in 2012 we went to Arley Hall and Lodge Lane nursery and in 2013 we visited Trentham Gardens. Last year we visited two stunning gardens, Stonehouse Cottage Garden and the garden of Rob and Diane Cole at Meadow Farm Nursery, Droitwich. In 2015 we visited Arabella Lennox Boyd's garden at Gresgarth Hall, Lancaster. This year, 2016, we will be going by coach to Holehird Gardens, the home of the Lakeland Horticultural Society which is managed and tended by volunteers from that society.
We are a social group, having a members' social in the summer time and a festive party at Christmas. We have a plant sale during May to raise funds for our group and have a library of gardening related books for members to borrow.
Towards the end of the year, members have the opportunity to purchase seeds at discounted prices in preparation for the next gardening season.
We hope you find our group of interest and look forward to seeing you at the next meeting in the Llanrhaeadr Village Hall, Back Street, Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant (just off Waterfall Road). If you would like to have a chat before visiting us, please contact us by clicking on this link.
